Job Summary:
The Children’s Ministry Pastor is responsible for overseeing the spiritual development and discipleship of children from infancy through elementary school. This role includes developing age-appropriate programs, leading a team of volunteers, and partnering with parents to nurture the faith of children within the church community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Program Development: Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate biblical lessons, activities, and events that help children grow in their relationship with God.
• Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and mentor a team of volunteers to support the various aspects of the children’s ministry.
• Parent Partnership: Provide resources and guidance to parents, equipping them to be the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives.
• Safety and Security: Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for children, adhering to church policies and procedures, including background checks for volunteers.
• Special Events: Plan and execute special events such as Vacation Bible School, holiday programs, and family-oriented activities.
• Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents, volunteers, and church leadership through newsletters, social media, and meetings.
• Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for the children’s ministry, ensuring resources are used effectively.
• Curriculum Selection: Evaluate and select curriculum that aligns with the church’s vision and theological framework.
• Spiritual Guidance: Provide pastoral care to children and their families, offering spiritual support as needed.
Qualifications:
• Education: Degree in Child Development, Theology, Christian Education, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: Previous experience in children’s ministry or a similar role, with a proven track record of leading and growing a ministry.
• Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the needs of the ministry.
• Spiritual Maturity: A deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, with a lifestyle that exemplifies Christian values and integrity.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move supplies or equipment as needed.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as required for events and services.
